Ice Cowboys – It’s a Dog’s World is a six-part, English-language documentary series about the sled dog racers of Alaska, Minnesota and Norway. It is directed by Finn-Erik Rognan and hosted by veteran sports reporter Greg Heister.

We follow Iditarod legend Lance Mackey and his family, superstar Dallas Seavey, the Norwegian musher Thomas Wærner on his way to the Iditarod, and the twins Anna and Kristy Berington, who spend everything they have on their dogs.
What is it about?
The mushers sacrifice everything for their dogs and live far off the grid. They prepare for races, build their dog teams, encounter wild animals and deal with tourists and sponsors, and compete in the Iditarod, the toughest wilderness race on the planet. Along the way they face health issues, addiction, family tragedies and a pandemic closing in on their remote world.

The Iditarod is a sled dog race of about 1,000 miles through the Alaskan wilderness, from Anchorage to Nome. The fastest teams finish in just over eight days. The race honors, among others, the Norwegian Leonhard Seppala, who in 1925 helped carry life-saving medicine to Nome during a diphtheria epidemic.
